HSS Organises 2-Day Research Writing Workshop

“No one ever told us these things about writing - we wish we had attended something like this earlier as well!” - Participants, Academic Writing Workshop 2020.

IIT Jammu successfully hosted a two-day Academic Writing Workshop, “Work-in-Progress: Removing Roadblocks from Research Writing” organized by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences on 10th-11th January, 2020. The workshop consisted of hands-on writing and reviewing sessions conducted by Dr. Anannya Dasgupta and Mr. Sameer Thomas from the Center for Writing and Pedagogy, Krea University, Andhra Pradesh.

Each session was focused on generating writing output and the participants received detailed feedback on their work. The workshop also discussed the nuances of structuring the process of writing and thinking. The workshop was about strategizing research techniques in order to generate a strong argument. This involved a step-by-step engagement with the mechanics of constructing thoughts, ideas into sentences and building a lucid and well-structured piece of research writing.

The workshop received a great response from all the 25 participants who came from the following institutes:

All the participants unanimously appreciated the relevance and the significance of the topics discussed throughout the workshop.

The workshop was coordinated by Ms. Ishita Mahajan, Dr. Bhumika R. and Dr. Sukanya Mondal. The HSS research scholars, Ms. Aditi Magotra, Mr. Pummy Sharma and Ms. Shreya Mudgil were immensely helpful in conducting the workshop.
