We are a department of 11 faculty members, steadily rising in impact and number since the Institute's inception in 2016. The Department's diverse and overlapping research, ranging from Philosophy to Literatures in English to Economics to Sociology, is a testament to the vast potential of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Our research queries and pursuits are in line with the larger vision of the Institute: to enable collaborative interventions that are humanistic, creative, and have a social impact.

Saloni Walia gets selected for the 3rd Teachers for Trainer’s Program at Ashoka University
She got selected for the 3rd Teachers for Trainer’s Program at the Center for Studies in Gender and Sexuality (CSGS) at Ashoka University, held from 12th November to 4th December 2022. She also presented a demo workshop as a facilitator on the last day titled “Navigating Gender And Sexuality in The 21st Century.”

The paper was titled “Gendering Caste: An Analysis Of P. Sivakami’s Novel The Grip Of Change” and was presented at the 8th JGU International Literary Conference (Online). The theme of the conference was ‘India in the Literary Imaginary,’ and it was organised by the English Literary Society, O.P. Jindal Global University, between 18th-20th July 2022.

Aditi Magotra bags mentorship at the 17th Annual Association of Adaptation Studies Conference
She was selected for a special mentorship program to discuss the thesis proposal under the tutelage of Prof. Thomas Leitch and Prof. Monika Pietrzak-Franger at the 17th Annual Association of Adaptation Studies Conference. The conference's theme was (In)visible Adaptation: Diversity and Inclusion, and it was held in Lisbon, Portugal, from the 22nd to the 25th of June, 2022. She later presented a research paper titled “The Transmedial Rigmarole: An Exploration of Transmedia Storytelling in the Indian Context” at the conference.
