Research Collaboration between IIT Jammu and Tribal Research Institute

With the focus to revitalize tribal cultures of J&K from a research point of view, IIT Jammu has signed an MoU with Tribal Research Institute. This MoU charters the establishment of Tribal Chair with targets as collection of tribal data, transcreation, digitization, dissemination, and on-site field study on the tribes of J&K, with an extensive focus on workshops, conferences, field visits, seminars, cultural programs, exhibitions, and other related activities. 

In the presence of honorable Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, the MoU was signed between Prof. Manoj Gaur, Director, Indian Institute of Technology Jammu, and Dr Shahihd Iqbal Choudhary, Director, Tribal Research Institute at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center (SKICC), Srinagar, on 26th June, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Dr Abdul Khabir, Deputy Director, Tribal Affairs Department and Nodal Officer, Tribal Research Institute, Jammu and Kashmir, will be the single point of contact for this collaboration. 

Prof. Bijoy Boruah, Dr Quleen Kaur Bijral, Dr Amitash Ojha, and Dr Sayantan Mandal are the faculty members who are part of the venture who belong to the department of Humanities & Social Sciences. The Research Scholar team from the HSS Department includes Ms. Tanu Gupta, Ms. Sayari Misra, Ms. Riya Jain, and Ms. Marve Batool Sofi. Dr Javaid Rahi, Editor of Gojri Language and Literature; Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Jammu and Kashmir, is also an integral and important member of the proposal as his contributions and suggestions in developing this project have been highly valuable.
