Film Appreciation Workshop

HSS Conducts Film Appreciation Workshop (21st-23rd January)

HSS IIT Jammu organized a three-day Film Appreciation workshop from 21st to 23rd January 2020. Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee regional film director Mr Jahnu Barua and Mrs Gayatri Barua were the experts on the occasion. Around 50 students from and outside the institute participated in the workshop. During the workshop, multiple films directed by Jahnu Barua were screened in the auditorium. Each screening was followed by the question and answer session. Film enthusiasts from the institute and other colleges asked Mr and Mrs Barua pertinent questions about their craft and other secrets of the trade.

Dr. Quleen Kaur Bijral (H.O.D. HSS) addressed the significance of the workshop as it inculcates the aesthetic as well as didactic expressions of films that continue to disseminate the system of values, ethics, morals, and critique of the society through ages. Pertinent extrapolations were also offered by the present HSS faculty: Dr. Amitash Ojha, Dr. Suchismita Roy, Dr. Bhumika R, Dr. Joby, Dr. Sayantan Mandal, Dr. Sukanya Mondal, and Ms. Ishita Mahajan.
