Shri Amit Shah, Honourable Minister of Home Affairs & Minister
of Cooperation visited the IIT Jammu campus on October 24th 2021 to lay the foundation stone
of the massive Phase 1C of the campus and inaugurate Saptarshi Multidisciplinary Research
Centre.
The newly inaugurated, Saptarshi Multidisciplinary Research
Centre at IIT Jammu is set to become a unicorn of technological excellence in North India
with the commissioning of brand new NMRI spectrometer, SCXRD, HRMS, XPS, and UV-VIS-NIR,
powder x-ray diffractometer (PXRD) and Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
Hon’ble Minister of Home Affairs Shri Amit Shah in the presence
of Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir,
Shri Manoj Sinha & Union Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the first-ever
(B.tech+MBA) dual degree program ever offered by an IIT & IIM, at the IIT Jammu campus on
October 24th, 2021.
IIT Jammu signed a MoU with the Maker Bhavan Foundation (MBF)
and UPL Ltd recently, to set up a Tinkerers’ Lab at IIT Jammu. The lab will be an 1800 sq.
ft student-managed Makerspace open 24*7 for the students of IIT Jammu. UPL and MBF have
together committed over one crore to equip the laboratory with the latest workstations of
electrical and mechanical equipment.
Shri Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of the
reputed JSW group visited IIT Jammu on October 23rd 2021 to confer B.tech, M.tech & PhD.
degrees upon the graduating students. Shri Jindal with his optimistic attitude and
encouraging smile visited the campus amidst difficult weather conditions and delivered the
message of firm self-belief and finding joy in one’s job to all the graduating students.
