IIT JAMMU- IIM Jammu launch Dual Degree Programme
Hon’ble Minister of Home Affairs Shri Amit Shah in the presence of Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha & Union Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the first-ever (B.tech+MBA) dual degree program ever offered by an IIT & IIM, at the IIT Jammu campus on October 24th, 2021. The first batch of students were welcomed to the Dual-degree program by Directors of both the premier institutions on December 20th 2021 as part of the orientation programme. 48 students from IIT Jammu have already enrolled to the programme.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu (IIT Jammu) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM Jammu) had previously entered into an MoU in the month of February 2021 wherein the two pioneering institutions situated in Jammu decided to collaborate in various parallels with an aim to churn out the best engineers and managers in the country. The team from IIM Jammu, led by Prof. B.S. Sahay, director, IIM Jammu joined the inauguration celebrations at the IIT Jammu campus & played a crucial role in unveiling this unique program in the presence of Hon’ble Minister, Shri Amit Shah.
This first of its kind 6 years long, Dual-degree program offered collaboratively by IIT Jammu & IIM Jammu will enable B.tech students studying at IIT Jammu to pursue an MBA from IIM Jammu directly after their graduation without having to qualify CAT(Common Admission Test) given they maintain a 7.0+ GPA throughout their course of B.tech study. This is the first time in the country when a technical-management education will be imparted by an IIM & IIT.
