With major national initiatives like IndiaAI Mission and BharatGen, the country is creating massive opportunities for skilled professionals who can design, deploy, and manage AI systems at scale - where systems don’t just predict outcomes but generate ideas, insights, and intelligent decisions.
Addressing India’s need of a new generation of AI specialists, engineers, and innovators who can power this transformation — the M.Tech in Generative AI and Data Science (Executive) by IIT Jammu has been designed in collaboration with industry leaders. It combines theoretical rigor with practical hands-on labs, real-world problem-solving, preparing students to lead and innovate in a landscape where AI is all pervasive. This program by IIT Jammu is more than an education; it's a direct conduit to becoming a meaningful contributor to India’s global AI mission.
Objectives:
The MTech in GenAI and Data Science (Executive) by IIT Jammu is designed to develop next-generation AI engineers, data scientists, and applied researchers who can build, deploy, and scale intelligent systems across domains. Through a rigorous blend of foundational courses in programming, data analytics, machine learning, and computational intelligence, learners will gain a deep understanding of how algorithms, data, and models interact to create real-world impact.
In advanced semesters, the focus shifts toward Generative AI, Large Language Models, Agentic AI, and MLOps — enabling students to design, optimize, and operationalize end-to-end AI pipelines. The capstone dissertation provides hands-on experience in solving complex industrial and societal challenges using AI-driven methods. Graduates emerge as technically grounded, innovation-ready professionals equipped to lead AI transformation across sectors.

Campus Immersion: The campus immersion phase is a pivotal part of the program, offering students the chance to engage in on-campus activities and sessions during the designated immersion period. The first year of campus immersion is mandatory, while the second-year campus immersion is optional.

Learning Hours: 300+ Hours of guided learning + hands-on labs

Capstone: Dissertation I & II (24 credits)
After 1 year of completion of the course, candidates will become eligible for the PG Diploma in GenAI and Data Science:
a) He/She has to complete 30 credits at the end of the first year.
b) To do this, we allow the student to take additional 6 credits in the form of a project in the second semester.
** A student can opt for the PG Diploma only after completion of the first semester, not in the beginning of the course.

Outcome of the Program
At the end of the Program, the learners will have expertise in the following areas:
1. Technical Mastery in AI and Data Science
Learners will:

Build strong foundations in Mathematics, Statistics, and Programming for AI and Data Science through the Futurense bridge modules.

Develop hands-on skills in Python, SQL, and data visualization for structured and unstructured data.
-
Master key AI domains - Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, and Fuzzy Logic - to design intelligent models and pipelines.
-
Gain proficiency in Generative AI, Agentic AI, and context-aware systems, including prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and agent orchestration.

Learn to design, train, and deploy AI models using modern tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, Hugging Face, AutoGen, and Spark.
2. Applied Innovation and System Building
Learners will:

Move beyond model-building to end-to-end AI system design, integrating data engineering, workflow automation, and deployment (MLOps).

Apply AI and Data Science principles to solve complex problems in domains like healthcare, fintech, governance, smart manufacturing, and digital services.

Use Big Data frameworks (Apache Spark, Kafka, IoT) to deploy large-scale, real-time data streams.

Implement Generative and Agentic AI solutions that automate reasoning, decision-making, and content generation.

Translate research into production-grade systems through capstone projects and dissertations in the third and fourth semesters.

Campus Immersion Component:

The campus immersion phase is a pivotal part of the program, offering students the chance to engage in on-campus activities and sessions during the designated immersion period. This allows participants to experience traditional classroom settings and provides a platform to interact directly with IIT Jammu's renowned faculty.

Campus immersion is scheduled every academic year. The first-year campus immersion is compulsory, while the second-year immersion is optional.
Please be aware of the following:

A detailed schedule for the campus immersion will be shared ahead of the sessions.

Boarding and lodging expenses during the immersion shall be borne by the learners.
-
Details regarding the issuance of learner identity cards will be communicated prior to the immersion.
Criteria of Eligibility:
The eligibility criteria prescribed below are the absolute minimum with no possible exceptions:

B.Tech / B.E. (ECE/EE/CSE/IT/EI/ME) / MSc. (IT/CS)

Minimum experience is 2 years (full time working experience post minimum qualifications).
-
The qualifying criterion for admission to M.Tech (Executive) is CGPA of 6.0 or 60% in qualifying degree.
-
For candidates with more than 10 years of experience - Min CGPA requirement is 5.5 or 55% in qualifying degree. (The applicant must qualify the pre-screen test to be eligible for the program)

Sales and Marketing Partner
M/s Futurense Technologies Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, Karnataka is the EdTech Partner for the programme and will offer services to conduct activities such as marketing, promotion, sale, preselection of the candidates, and Learning Management System support.
Selection Process
The program’s selection and nomination will be based on the pre-assessment test followed by an online interview and submission of required documents.
Upon passing the interview, the IIT Jammu Admission team will review the application, documents, and exam score to ascertain the selection followed by an offer letter.

** Paid to Futurense Technologies towards Application Processing Fees. If the
application is not accepted by IIT Jammu or by Futurense, the registration fee
will be refunded in full. However, if after the issuance of the offer letter,
the student withdraws or drops out for any reason whatsoever, this amount is
strictly non-refundable.
Additional Charge: Boarding and lodging expenses during the immersion shall be
borne by the students as per actuals.
If requested a withdrawal:
A. If a student submits a withdrawal or refund request within 30 days of the batch start date, an amount of ₹1,49,500 (equivalent to the first semester fee) will be deducted and the remaining balance from ₹2,99,000 will be refunded.
B. If a student submits a withdrawal request after 30 days from the batch start date, the entire amount of ₹2,99,000 + ₹18,000 (equivalent to the first-year fee) will be deducted.
Note: All refunds exclude the one-time registration fee, GST charges (18%), and any applicable subvention amount; these components are non-refundable.
