ICCMDE-2026
The International Conference on Composite Materials, Design, and Engineering (ICCMDE-2026) concluded successfully at Research and Innovation Park, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi from 11–13 February 2026. Jointly organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Jammu and Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi under the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC), the three-day event brought together leading researchers, academicians, industry experts, and scholars to explore emerging developments in composite materials, structural design, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
The conference was inaugurated by Bent F. Sørensen, Naresh Bhatnagar, R. T. Durai Prabhakaran, and Puneet Mahajan. It featured keynote talks by eminent scientists including Naresh Bhatnagar (IIT Delhi), Bent F. Sørensen (Technical University of Denmark), Anindya Deb (IISc Bengaluru), and Paul Hazell (University of New South Wales, Australia), and plenary talks by eminent scientists including Russell J. Varley, RMIT, Melbourne, Australia, Giribaskar, NMIS, UK, Saju Pillai (NIIST, Trivandrum), Raguraman (IIITDM Kancheepuram), Ramadass (DRDO-RDE, Pune), Sanjay Palsule (IIT Roorkee), Inderdeep Singh (IIT Roorkee), Rajnish Sharma (IIT Mandi), Pawan Kumar (CUJ, Jammu), Jayaramulu (IIT Jammu), Badri Prasad Patel (IIT DELHI), S.P.Singh (IIT Delhi), Pradyumna (IIT Delhi), Abhijit Majumdar (IIT Delhi), S Vikrant Karra (IIT Delhi), Naresh Datla (IIT Delhi), Dr. Gautam Jain, Endolite India Limited, New Delhi, covering advanced composite materials, structural performance, impact engineering, and emerging applications.
Participants engaged in high-quality technical sessions spanning military-grade composites, biomedical innovations, advanced structural materials, and next-generation manufacturing technologies, highlighting the transformative role of composites in global engineering.
The valedictory session featured Professor Sawan S. Sinha, Head - Department of Applied Mechanics, reflecting on key outcomes and emphasizing the importance of continued interdisciplinary collaboration. Selected full-length papers from ICCMDE-2026 will be published in a Special Issue of the Journal of Polymer Composites, further extending the scholarly impact of the conference.
