Vision and Mission of CES, IIT Jammu
The Centre for Essential Skills (CES) at Indian Institute of Technology Jammu was established with the vision of creating an inclusive and forward-looking learning ecosystem centred on science, technology, and innovation. The Centre aims to promote holistic education and skill development by nurturing intellectual curiosity, scientific thinking, creativity, and ethical leadership among learners from diverse academic backgrounds.
CES seeks to complement technical education with experiential and application-oriented learning that responds to contemporary industrial and societal requirements. Alongside strengthening scientific and technological capabilities, the Centre emphasizes the development of design thinking, financial awareness, communication and language skills, professional competencies, and other essential life skills within an integrated educational framework.
By encouraging interdisciplinary engagement and practical exposure, CES aspires to equip learners with critical thinking abilities, adaptability, socio-economic awareness, and entrepreneurial orientation necessary to navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing global environment.
The Centre is committed to strengthening capacity-building initiatives for students, educators, professionals, institutions, and communities, with a special focus on creating meaningful impact across the regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. By fostering collaboration between academia, industry, government, and society, CES aims to contribute towards innovation-driven growth, inclusive development, and the national vision of building a Viksit Bharat.
To promote excellence in science, technology, and innovation through interdisciplinary and experiential learning approaches that integrate academic knowledge with real-world applications.
To develop intellectual curiosity, scientific temper, creativity, ethical values, and leadership qualities among learners from diverse educational and professional backgrounds.
To strengthen essential skills including communication, design thinking, financial literacy, technical competencies, problem-solving abilities, and entrepreneurial orientation for holistic personal and professional growth.
To foster meaningful collaboration among academia, industry, government, and society in order to address emerging industrial, technological, and socio-economic challenges.
To undertake capacity-building and outreach initiatives that contribute to inclusive and innovation-driven development, with particular emphasis on the regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, while supporting the national vision of a Viksit Bharat.
