Chemical Engineering is one of the “BIG FOUR” disciplines of the Engineering Science, the rest being Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical. It is also the youngest of the basic branches of the engineering discipline. A chemical engineer works in a place like the one seen in the image above. They are responsible for converting any raw material to a finished product, may it be petrol from crude oil, synthetic rubber from rubber sap, tea bags from tea leaves, sugar from sugarcane, the list goes on.

From The Desk of HoD
Welcome to the Department of Chemical Engineering (ChE) at IIT Jammu. The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in 2018 with the intake of the first undergraduate batch. Since then the department has grown to the first batch graduating in 2021. The department is currently growing and consists of nine faculty members: assistant professors, visiting professors, and professors. With a unique combination of enthusiasm, experience, and adaptability, the department has expanded from modest beginnings to astounding new heights.
