The Outreach and Skilling Division (OSD) at IIT Jammu acts as a dynamic platform for meaningful engagement with a diverse spectrum of stakeholders. Our initiatives are thoughtfully designed to introduce young learners to emerging technologies, strengthen the capabilities of youth in technical domains, and provide high-quality capacity-building programmes for educators, industry professionals, and public institutions.
Through training under the Centre for Essential Skills (CES), we adopt a holistic approach to skilling. While we offer training in cutting-edge technological areas, equal emphasis is placed on the development of soft skills, socio-economic understanding, and business acumen. This integrated framework ensures that learners are not only technically competent but also equipped with the critical thinking, communication, and adaptability required in today’s complex world.
Our sustained efforts reflect a deep commitment to bridging academia with practice, aligning learning with national priorities, and fostering pathways for meaningful employment and societal impact—particularly across the regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Through our outreach initiatives under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, we also engage closely with rural communities, contributing to the empowerment of citizens in general and women self-help groups in particular.
